Okay, so this is kind of a new thing for me. Christmas has nothing on this day. The first day of school. Ahhhhh! I really didn’t know what I was missing all those years of home-schooling! Don’t get me wrong, I love and adore my kids. I think my 5 kids are the best 5 kids on the planet. But I gotta say, today when the 4 big ones walked out the door headed for school, this amazing thing filled the house…the whole house. SILENCE. Oh sweet silence. And at noon, when no one asked me what they could have for lunch, I think i nearly cried. And at 3:00 when I looked around and the house was still as clean as it was at 9:00 a.m. I know I cried. Oh yeah, and at noon when I didn’t have to pick up a kindergartner, I don’t even want to admit what I did to celebrate. Of course now that it is 7:00 the house is a mess and full of noise…but I can deal with that because bedtime is in one hour.
The kids were so excited and they all love their new teachers. I was worried about Sienna, being alone all day, but I actually think it is going to be great for her. She took a good long nap and was cheerful all day. I just need to start napping when she does, and try to get caught up on some sleep in the next 5 weeks before the new baby comes. Here are some pictures of the kids before they left this morning.
